we did 2 half hours of grocery shopping at meijier's just now. ridiculous, but definitely not impossible.
since when did grocery stores sell clothes, shoes, pets, etc in such abundance that momentarily eclipses the real reasons for grocery stores: food.
and finally, when you do get to the grocery part of the store, the variety is jaw-droppingly amazing. so amazing in fact, that (in his words) i feel like a kid in a candy store..
how true. ntuc and cold storage back home pale far, far in comparison.

on another note, buying groceries makes me feel like i'll be here for another wee, when in reality, tonight is my second last night here.
i'm feeling the 30days, although he says he doesn't. but that doesn't mean i'm not sad i'll be winging my way home soon. it's so much harder convincing myself it's all right, here, than each time he leaves.
i guess it's something to do with who gets to be left behind, and who leaves. the one leaving does so alone, usually, and that's never fun.
my first airplane ride with him 3wks ago was the most fun flight i've ever taken. it was also the shortest, and happiest.. saturday's flight will in all likely hood be the lonliest. to make it worst, that'll only be the first of 4 flights - 2 mini legs and 2 killer legs.
i just hope i won't bawl at the airport. but, just in case, we're giving crying allowance and getting to Chicago as sanely early as is possible.
when i think of that night in boston when we were woken by the false fire alarm, it seems so far away, so impossible. did that really happen? were we really in ny? boston? chicago? florida?
i should have taken more photos, and yet, sometimes the best 'photos' are the ones you hold in your heart..
for the first time. when he sees me off at the airport on the 24th, i'll probably bawl my eyes out. for the first time since july 2001, it'll be incredibly hard to say goodbye..
and yet. i do want to go home, to see my parents, my sis, the 6 piggies (who i hear have a new, improved, upgraded home =) and my friends..
i find it contradictary. when i'm away with friends, it's always 100% fun.. and yet there are times when it hits me that the pple i miss travelling with are my family.
for instance. when i sleep in hotels, i always leave the bathroom lights on at night, the door slightly ajar to allow a sliver of illumination, or at the least, leave the bathroom door closed - reason: i hate waking up to a dark room, and dark bathrooms are always scary! =)
with my sis, it's a given. i don't have to ask, i don't have to tell. the bathroom light stays on. with him, i have to explain.
idiosyncrasies, i guess.
and ps: i'm still waiting for snow.. sigh
