interesting Slate article on C.S. Lewis' Narnia

to me, a story is a story. read what you will or will not in it. any written word is open to numerous, infinite interpretations, just like Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. there are those who still persist in reading a WWII allegory into the story when Tolkien himself denied as such. whatever makes people happy.

been on a movie streeeeak recently and lovin' it! First, HP and the Goblet of Fire with my dad at Lot 1, then Chicken Little with aza (arrrgh! WHY did we watch that?!!), followed by Batman Begins with my dad yesterday evening, some sad chinese movie on tv today with yummilicious Nicholas Tse in it, and probably Hellboy tomorrow since i likely won't be able to resist.. ahhh.. bliss...

and don't get me started on how Batman Begins is THE way Batman should be.. eagerly waiting for the sequel(s)..

my piggie is back from australia with her usual store of oh so hilarious but duh stories to tell.. although the past 8 days of quiet was welcome, i am glad she's back..

some things that happen in life you never forgot, never fully, truly recover from. even if it's in a small corner of my mind, i think of her all the time--she is a presence that'll never go away, a memory kept tight against my heart... i'd thought the active, raw grief had dulled enough for me to smile and walk forward in life with my head held high..

..i didn't expect hearing Amazing Grace from the tiny, beautiful music box my sis bought back from Australia to drege up SO many memories. maybe i'm glad we didn't visit her today.. not in my current fragile state.

"I never felt magic crazy as this I never saw moons knew the meaning of the sea I never held emotion in the palm of my hand Or felt sweet breezes in the top of a tree But now you're here Brighten my northern sky.

I've been a long time that I'm waiting Been a long that I'm blown I've been a long time that I've wandered Through the people I have known Oh, if you would and you could Straighten my new mind's eye.

Would you love me for my money Would you love me for my head Would you love me through the winter Would you love me 'til I'm dead Oh, if you would and you could Come blow your horn on high..."

some days, missing you reaches in and squeezes my heart sooo hard that i can't breathe, and all i want to do rightdowntoeveryfibreofmybody is to up and go... to see you once more..

some days, the fact that we're still standing here after all these years thrills and fills me with speechless wonder and awe, like fairy lights in the distance..
