skimmed through an online article sometime last week titled "10 types of friends you need in life", and the Hobby Friend category jumped out at me.
reminded me of what i told a friend a little while ago in reaction to the 'confusion' surrounding which grp we were in, while waiting to take pictures with the recently married bride and groom.
instead of the oh so vague and airy category of 'friends', i'll have the swimming kahkis, the n.y.d.c posh-spice addicts and the impossibly tall friends categories amongst others, so everyone will know exactly where they are. haha..

maybe it's because i've settled into a routine that the days seem to fly by so fast. or perhaps it's because we've been a bit busy these two weeks.
whatever the case, i'm actually enjoying myself more and more at work--having a purpose, being useful and feeling trusted, i've realised, are extremely important in contributing towards job satisfaction.

there's something about big corporations of the need-a-pass-to-open doors variety that gives me the chills. you step in and it's all silence, carpeted floor and closed doors. in a corner stands a lone phone with a laminated list of names and numbers attached by a short silver chain. you dial a number and wait in the air-conditioned emptiness. moments pass, then footsteps, the heavy metallic ping of unlocking doors and finally, a person! ... who is inevitably sharply and impeccably dressed.
i'm all for looking sharp and smart. but if i've to do that 5 or as the case may be 5 1/2 days a week dressed to the nines, i'll never last. that's why i need to find a job that doesn't require me to look immaculate 100% of the time..
