sometimes it irks me that a whole generation (old and new) are growing up on the cinematic version of The Lord of the Rings..
the purist in me rebels against that, because while film adaptations reach out to a wider audience and bring the books to life in a way that solidifies them in your imagination, i always say, the original source is the best.
nothing beats reading the trilogy and populating Middle Earth yourself.. that's where i'm having mixed emotions..
those who watched LOTR before reading it have now been 'tainted' by Peter Jackson's vision. i'm not saying it wasn't damn fine, mind you, it was and more, but it isn't your individual vision any longer..
it also irks a little that there are articles i've read, which so obviously only talk about the movie versions. read the bk first, then comment.
but in this world and age when film, tv, the internet, has surpassed paper as the medium for communication, i guess i can't complain.
after all, better to let the world know about Middle Earth in all its cinematic glory than not know it at all, ne?

good music gets me the same way a good bk does.. right in the heart.
have i ever said this? finding nemo is so beautiful. it's all about simple storytelling, isn't it?
perhaps soundtracks really are that important because the replacements might not be as great a movie as i think it is without the music.. but perhaps even without, i would still like it, lots..
it's on my list of "to get-s", along with Le Papillion and fly away home
