i have a new hero. other than ursula k. leguin, i now worship sherri s. tepper..
cause of conversion: shadow's end.. little Leelies.. and Leelson (yum!)
' "I don't think he invented a way to turn it off," he said helplessly, returning to her with open arms.'
'If their love was not love, their courage was surely courage. Heroes have been adored for less.'

hollywood trailers give away all too much. i just stumbled upon the american release trailor for Spirited Away..
all the little secrets of the show, all the tiny revelations, all the fun of just watching and discovering evaporated with each second..
trailers are about whetting the appetite. trailers are teasers.. not spoil-it-alls or tell-it-alls. the magic of watching any show is discovering it for yourself, of sitting in the darkened theatre with all the tingling anticipation for company.. of opening your mind and allowing the show to weave it's spell on you..
and that's why as a rule, for whatever movie i would like to watch, i avoid any material, written or otherwise, on the movie, before i actually watch it.
self-discovery, self-revelation is all the more precious and worthwhile because you discovered it on your own.
