Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet are possibly two of the most engaging, versatile and brilliant actors of the day and Finding Neverland is an eloquent testement to that.
You don't have to be literary-minded or have read Peter Pan to appreciate the movie, although knowing the story certainly helps towards understanding the movie better.
It was magical, lyrical and gorgeously crafted. a real treat of the imagination, a real fairytale. incredibly moving and heart-wrenchingly sad, which i thought fitted Peter Pan's ending.
Children stories are rarely shallow and certainly not simple. Apart from Captain Hook and Tinkerbell, whom everyone remembers, my other memory of Peter Pan was how sad the ending was. When Peter returns looking for Wendy after many years, he finds her all grown up. Peter is upset and confused for a while but soon moves on, once he finds another little child to play with. And the one left behind is Wendy for whom Neverland is closed, for now.
Finding Neverland was worth the $6.50 I paid. If it were $10, it would also be worth it.

I walk into mph today and what do i see? Century Rain is out!! and i can't even find Revelation Space and Redemption Ark yet! they can't do this to me.
still debating on which book to spend my mph vouchers on. currently at the top of the list is Lolita. but the only copy they have at the raffles city branch is a ratty slightly dog-eared one.
shall check out the other mph at city link next week. hopefully they will have a slightly better selection of books or a clean copy of Lolita. then again, even if i can't find anything i still have abt 7mths to look around.
